Ghawar In Focus

With today's update to the Google Earth imagery, most of Ghawar is finally covered at high resolution. Shown at left below if how Ghawar looked for most of the last couple of years, and right shows the updated look. The welcome additions include the central swath down Shedgum into Uthmaniyah (upper right part of image) and the northern half of Haradh (the lowermost area). The new coverage dates to mid 2006. The rest of Haradh is still covered in rather dated (2004) imagery, and northwest Hawiyah dates to 2003.



There is much work ahead, but a quick look shows more drilling in north Haradh in 2006 than in Shedgum.
